Temporary residence and work (work permit)

Given that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, among other things, is responsible for issuing permits for temporary residence and work, we point out that a foreigner can work in Montenegro based on a permit for temporary residence and work or a certificate of employment registration. A foreigner can work in Montenegro only in jobs for which he has been issued a permit for temporary residence and work or a certificate of employment registration and only with the employer who employs him.
License conditions
A foreigner may be issued a temporary residence permit and a temporary residence and work permit, if:
1) has means of support (provided by a foreigner);
2) has accommodation provided (provided by a foreigner);
3) has health insurance (provided by a foreigner);
4) has a valid foreign travel document or identity card issued to him by the competent authority of another country, the validity period of which must be at least three months longer than the period for which the residence or travel document for a stateless person is approved (applied by a foreigner);
5) he was not banned from entering and staying in Montenegro (this proof is obtained ex officio);
6) in Montenegro, he has not been sentenced to an unconditional prison sentence of more than six months for a criminal offense for which he is being prosecuted ex officio or the legal consequences of the conviction have ceased (this evidence is obtained ex officio);
7) in the country of origin, he has not been sentenced to an unconditional prison sentence of more than six months for a criminal offense for which he is being prosecuted ex officio, or the legal consequences of the conviction have ended (the foreigner is attached);
8) there are no obstacles for reasons of national or internal security or public health (this proof is obtained ex officio);
9) attach proof of the justification of the request for the issuance of a permit (written offer of the employer to employ a foreigner in a certain workplace; proof of the acquired level of education and qualification; proof of health).
